Thrain and the others watched Bria until she disappeared down the corridor. The moment she was gone, everyone began speaking at once. Thrain gave up on trying to understand what they were saying and whistled to get their attention. When everyone was silent, he sighed.
âCan we really use the Septandia flower as an excuse for Briaâs vitals and injury?â Thrain briefly rubbed his temples and the headache pounding in them.
âYes,â Dr. Shandor admitted with a grin. âIn fact, itâs brilliant. The flower emits a mild toxin in its thorns and would more than explain the elevation in her vitals, pain responses, and the injury itself.â
Thrain sighed in relief. âModify what you need to in Briaâs records and send it to LAW immediately. We donât want a delay to make them suspicious. If they demand a video interview with her, I want to be notified immediately.â
âOf course,â Dr. Shandor agreed with a respectful nod.
âWhat do we tell our people?â One of the medical techs asked.
Dr. Shandor quirked a questioning brow at Thrain while everyone else waited for his response.
âWhat happens with Bria medically is no oneâs damn business and will never be spoken of to anyone but Bria, myself or parliament. Is that clear?â Thrain growled out the words and stared down everyone in the room until they agreed.
Dr. Shandor cleared her throat. âWith all due respect, Sir, it will be difficult to hide her bond with Tesheer from anyone. I think it would be best to explain it to our people rather than let them gossip and wonder about it.â
âThat is something that will be decided by myself and parliament,â Thrain snapped while striding to the door. He turned back to the others when he reached it. âUntil Briaâs testing is complete and parliament and I have decided on what information is to be released to the public, anything regarding Briaâs bond with Tesheer is to remain confidential. Is that understood?â
Thrain waited until everyone agreed before leaving the room and walking angrily to the royal hall and those who were waiting for him. Rubbing a tired hand down his face, Thrain wondered what the hell he was going to tell them. Without proper testing, there was no way to determine the extent of Briaâs bond with Tesheer.
There was no doubt in Thrainâs mind that Bria had a full soul bond. Heâd seen the way she interacted with Tesheer and the last time heâd witnessed it had been between his father and Vicanâs sire, Blador. Not knowing how such a thing would be accepted by parliament, or his people, Thrain thought it best to keep the information to himself. For the moment.
Thrain entered the royal hall and immediately winced from the questions he was bombarded with. Holding up his hands, he waited until everyone became silent before heading to the sideboard and pouring himself a sizeable drink.
âThrain-â Sienna began but stopped when Thrain held up a hand, downed his drink, and refilled his glass before he spoke.
âVican led Bria to the clearing where it appears he had his people gathered and waiting.
